Differences between COB LEDs and SMD LEDs

On a COB LED lamp, however, there are only two contacts and a circuit. It is not possible to make a color-changing lamp or bulb with them. Multi-channel adjustment is required to get a color-changing effect. Therefore, COB LED lamps work well in applications that require a single hue rather than multiple colors.
The brightness range of SMD chips is well known to be 50 to 100 lumens per watt. COB is well known for its high thermal efficiency and lumen per watt ratio. If a COB chip has at least 80 lumens per watt, it can emit more lumens with less electricity. It can be used in many different types of bulbs and devices, such as mobile phone flash or point-and-shoot cameras.
In addition to this, SMD LED chips require a smaller external energy source, while COB LED chips require a larger external energy source.
